What’s My Curl Type ?
Curl types are a system used to describe different kinds of hair textures. They help people understand how curly their hair is and what kinds of products or care might work best.
The system usually goes from Type 1 to Type 4:
- Type 1: Straight hair
- Type 2: Wavy hair
- Type 3: Curly hair
- Type 4: Coily or very tight curls
Each type can also have letters (A, B, C) to show how loose or tight the pattern is. For example, 3A has loose curls, while 3C has tighter curls.

Type 2 – Wavy

Type 3 – Curly

Type 4 – Coily

Knowing your curl type is a total game-changer for your hair routine. It helps you pick products that actually work with your texture instead of against it. Since every curl pattern has its own moisture and styling needs, understanding yours keeps your hair healthier and easier to manage. It also helps you avoid damage by showing you which techniques your curls can and cannot handle. Plus, once you know your curl type, embracing your natural texture becomes so much easier and way more fun.
