My Curl Story
My name is Madison Castillo and I have type 3 C curly hair. When I was younger, I used to hate my curly hair. In elementary school, almost no one had curls like mine, and I would always tell my mom I wanted straight blonde hair instead. She kept telling me that one day I’d appreciate my curls, and she was definitely right. Now I love them — they make me who I am, and most people even recognize me by my big hair.
All through middle school, I wore my hair in buns because I didn’t know how to take care of it and it felt like the only way to keep it under control. But in eighth grade, one of my friends introduced me to the leave-in conditioner she used for her curly hair. That changed everything. I started watching YouTube videos, learning about products, and figuring out how to care for my texture. Over time, I fell completely in love with my curls, and now I wear them natural 90% of the year. I’ve become a huge advocate for learning your hair and embracing your natural beauty.
